In 2019, as firmly led by the party committee of the school, the school deeply studied and implemented the thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a new era provided by Xi Jinping, comprehensively performed the spirit of the National Education Conference, strived to realize the development plan of “the 13th Five-year Plan”, gathered strength and forged ahead with determination, and achieved fruitful results in the aspects of party construction, talent cultivation, scientific research, social service, cultural inheritance and innovation, international cooperation and exchange. To sufficiently sort and reflect the news events of our college having an important influence in 2019, the Publicity Department of the Party Committee selected 30 pieces of important news based on the news value and influence. Upon the network voting, the result of the “Top Ten News in 2019” was revealed some days ago. Now, the result is announced as follows:
I. Investigation of Wang Guosheng, the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Holding of Vocational Education Symposium in Our College
On April 3, Wang Guosheng, the secretary of the Provincial Party Committee conducted an investigation and held a vocational education symposium in the school and emphasized to deeply study and implement the important indication of General Secretary Xi Jinping about vocational education and the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, keep pace with the times, enhance understanding, be close to demand, reinforce various measures, provide more innovative, skill-oriented and practical talents for the high-quality development of Henan and make more contributions to the construction of the integrated transportation hubs in Henan.
II. Admission of the First Chinese-foreign Cooperative Education Institute with Independent Corporate Capacity in the Province
Zhengzhou Eurasian Transportation Vocational College was established by the school and Russia Transportation University jointly, approved by the People’s Government of Henan and filed by the Ministry of Education with a Chinese-foreign school running permit issued by the education department of Henan as the first Chinese-foreign full-time ordinary higher vocational college with independent corporate capacity. In 2019, the college enrolled 273 new students for 4 majors in Henan.
III. Ranking as the High-quality Major Group Construction Unit Upon Efforts
On December 13, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance issued the Notice of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance on the Publication of the Unit List of the Construction Plan of High-level Vocational Colleges & Specialties with Chinese Characteristics, indicating the list of the first round of construction units in the “Construction Plan of High-level Vocational Colleges & Specialties with Chinese Characteristics”. And, our college was successfully rated as the “High-level Major Group Construction Unit”. By taking the opportunity, the school will actively serve the national strategy of “country with strong transportation network” and “the Belt and Road” initiative, actively cater for the demand of the China high-speed railway on “safe, convenient, high-efficient and green” technical development and of the central region on the construction of the international and modern integrated transportation hub, greatly promote the school-running system and education system to implement the reformation and innovation, and establish a high-level vocational college leading the reform of the Chinese vocational education, supporting the China high-speed railway to develop continuously in a leading manner and showing the Chinese characteristics and world influence.
IV. Approval of the Experimental College in the Comprehensive Reform of “Three-wide Education” of Henan for Our College
On June 6, the University Working Committee Office of the Provincial Party Committee of Henan and the Education Department of Henan printed and distributed the Notice on the Publication of the List of the Second Batch of Experimental Colleges of the Comprehensive Reform of “Three-wide Education” in Henan (JSZ (2019) No. 400), indicating the school was successfully approved as one of the experimental colleges of the comprehensive reform of “Three-wide Education” in Henan. The school will continuously promote the implementation of the ideological and political work quality improvement work, strive to construct a set of work mode for the “Three-wide Education”, form a batch of characteristic brands of “Three-wide Education”, achieve many fruitful results for the “Three-wide Education” and try to cultivate the socialism builders and successors comprehensively with all-around development of moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetics and labor education. The case of “New Media “3+3+3 and Voice Spreading of Zhengzhou Railway Vocational & Technical College” was rated as Top 50 innovation demonstration case of network ideological and political work of vocational colleges and universities in 2019. The WeChat Official Account was rated as “Top Ten WeChat Official Accounts of the Nation-wide Vocational Colleges and Universities in 2018-2019”.
V. Settlement of the First Nation-wide Vocational Capacity Reconstruction Research Center in Our College
On November 23, the opening ceremony of the Vocational Capacity Reconstruction Research Center of the Chinese Society for Technical and Vocational Education and the Theme Education Symposium were held ceremoniously in the first conference hall of the office building in the school. As witnessed by all the guests, Lu Xin, the chairman of the Chinese Society for Technical and Vocational Education and the vice minister of the Ministry of Education, Zhu Qingmeng, the vice chairman of the Chinese Society for Technical and Vocational Education, the director of the education, science, culture and health work committee of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress in Henan and the former head of the education department of Henan, Chen Yinting, a member of the party group of the education department of Henan and the vice head of the education department of Henan, Su Dongmin, the secretary of the party committee of the school and Kong Fanshi, the president jointly unveiled the nameplate for the Vocational Capacity Reconstruction Research Center of the Chinese Society for Technical and Vocational Education.
VI. Our College Ranking as Top 50 Teaching Management Cases and Top 50 Student Management Cases Among Nation-wide Colleges and Universities
On July 23, the Ministry issued the Notice on the Publication of the Result of Top 50 Teaching Management Cases and Top 50 Student Management Cases Among Nation-wide Vocational Colleges and Universities (JZCSH (2019) No. 78) and our college was the only one college ranking as Top 50 Teaching Management Cases and Top 50 Student Management Cases Among the Nation-wide Vocation Colleges and Universities, which marks the affirmation and recognition of the Ministry of Education for the establishment of a perfect management system and quality assurance and supervision mechanism and the improvement of technology and skill talent cultivation quality by the school.
VII. Radio Association and Robot Technology Innovation Association of Our College Awarded the Title of the “National Most Influential Technology and Innovation Student Society”
On January 18, the result of 2018 Third Nation-wide Student Society Influence Exhibition Activity of “Youth Burning and Energy Gathering” conducted by the central organization of the Communist Youth League was announced. The title of “Nation-wide Most Influential Technology and Innovation Student Society” was awarded to the radio association and robot technology and innovation association of our College. In the TI Cup 2019 National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest, our college won 6 national first prizes and 2 national second prizes to realize the seven consecutive first prizes in the National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest. In the Eighteen National Undergraduate Robot Contest (ROBOTAC), the “Jiangxin” team composed of the robot technology and innovation association and the radio association of the school won the national first prize by their solid basic skill and sagacious strategy.
VIII. Establishment of the National First Branch of Vocational College with BESTDR Infrastructure Hospital
On January 12, the “Engineering Application and Technology and Skill Talent Cultivation Seminar and Branch Establishment Meeting of Zhengzhou Railway Vocational & Technical College with BESTDR Infrastructure Hospital” jointly hosted by Zhengzhou Railway Vocational & Technical College, and the Collaborative Innovation Center of Henan for Water Conservation and Traffic Infrastructure Safety and Protection took place in the meeting center of Yellow River Yingbin Hotel. As witnessed by all the guests, Wang Fuming, the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Zhu Qingmeng, the director of the education, science, culture and health work committee of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People' s Congress in Henan jointly unveiled the nameplate for the establishment of the branch of Zhengzhou Railway Vocational & Technical College with BESTDR Infrastructure Hospital. This is the first branch of vocational college established by BESTDR Infrastructure Hospital in the country.
IX. Our College Awarded the Provincial Title of “Peaceful Campus”
On May 9, the Education Department of Henan, the Peace-building Leading Group Office of Henan Province, and the Department of Public Security of Henan jointly issued the Notice of the Conferring of the Title of “Peaceful Campus” (JB (2019) No. 227), and our college was awarded the title of “Peaceful Campus” and further perfected the security working mechanism, perfected the security system, strengthened the implementation of the security liabilities, ensured the result of the peaceful campus construction, continuously promoted the stability maintenance and security to a new level and made more contributions to the construction of “Peaceful Henan”.
X. Great Improvement of International School-running Level and Intellectual Support for the Belt and Road
On January 22, the first batch of South African students admitted by the school smoothly arrived at the school, marking the beginning of the one-year study life in China. The cultivation of the international students in China is a specific measure of our college to respond to the “Belt and Road” initiative and the call of the “Study in China” policy of Henan. On May 30, the opening ceremony of the first foreign branch of our college – Zhan Tianyou Institute was held in Eastcape Midlands TVET College. The “Zhan Tianyou Institute” will be the platform of vocational education cooperation and the bridge of promoting the people-to-people exchange between China and Africa. On June 14, the Chinese High-speed Railway Technology Training Class opened by our collegel for the core teachers coming from the transportation colleges and universities of Russia for the first time ended successfully. The training class offers the first teacher training of our college to the countries along the “Belt and Road”, which is supported by the International Association of Transport Universities of Asian-pacific Countries and the International Association of Asian-pacific Countries. On October 27, the Opening Ceremony of the Electric Locomotive Driver Training Class for the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway and the People-to-people Forum were held in our college. After that, 65 train drivers coming from Ethiopia and Djibouti were trained in the school for 6 months, which is the specific practice of our college to implement the education action plan of the Ministry of Education for “the Belt and Road” and explore the new mode of technology and skill training and school-running for international students in China.
