CCTV 1 recently aired Out of Poverty, an eight-episode documentary on China's eradication of extreme poverty. The China Media Group produced the documentary under the direction of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee.
The documentary's seventh episode, China's Contributions to Global Poverty Reduction, was broadcast on CCTV 1 at 9pm on February 24. It explored China’s commitment to poverty eradication and its contributions in helping developing countries combat poverty, especially the least developed countries. Tapping into opportunities arising from the Belt and Road Initiative in recent years, Zhengzhou Railway Vocational & Technical has been making efforts to reduce global poverty by providing technical assistance and capacity building to participating countries of the Belt and Road Initiative. The Institute's training of electric locomotive drivers for the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway --Africa's first cross-border electrified railway-- is shown from the 30th to the 35th minute of the documentary. It details the life and training of 34 Ethiopian train driver apprentices at the Institute and their work after returning to their home country.
